These photographs are of my domestic inventory. I have photographed articles of black clothing against the white wall in my studio. Objects posed here, with a simple delicacy. I have slightly blurred the images to make them feel like dreamlike charcoal drawings. Whose clothing is this? Who would choose these daily items?
There has always been something childlike about my work. Sometimes pictures that I have staged and taken myself. I seek out objects that are strongly linked to the everyday. Clothing is transformed into whimsical meditations on contemporary culture and society.
I am creating pieces that use formal elements, themes and references filtered through a woman’s eye. I encourage the viewer to see the extraordinary in the everyday.
